I Am After School Programs - 2949 Words

Introduction It is said that the children of today are the children of the future. The only problem with this statement is that the children of today seem to be getting into more trouble than anybody could imagine. Children are painting graffiti in the neighborhood, misbehaving at home and in some cases, showing no respect for the law. In a recent commentary in the publication of the Harvard Research Project, stated that participation in an after-school program gets children and youth off the streets and under supervision and potentially prevents some risky behaviors. (Little et, al. 7) Now that we know that there is a problem with the children of today, it is time to find a solution. The school’s name is displayed next to the front doors, in big metal letters. When entering the building I had to go through three doors before getting inside. As I entered the first door, I had to ring a buzzer and get buzzed in. When I entered the office, the receptionist asked for my name and the purpose of my visit. She asked me to fill-out a log with my name and the time and purpose of my visit. She then gave me a visitor’s pass. On the right side of the second door, the stairs lead to the second and third floors. On the left side, there was a white wall with lockers. Once I entered the third door on my right, I saw two long hallways with classrooms. In the middle of the hallways, there were bathrooms. At the end of the hallway on my left, was the school gym. The children go there to play different activities. The gym is also used as a cafeteria, where children have their meals, from 11:05 to 12:00 pm. The second and third floors have the same design as the first floor. The school has a very welcoming feel. Appreciation for the students and the teachers is shown on every wall, with different kinds of artwork, pictures of projects and student awards. The school gave me an insight into the sights, sounds, and smells of an urban, middle-class community. DoubtsUncertainties in Macbeth and Much Ado About Nothing

CA Draft Love, hate, fair and foul are tightly entwined around the core of drama. Although they are extreme opposite, they blur together to create the perfect partnership, which allows characters to appear different to their internal feelings. Whether it’s through the ‘barbed banter’ of ‘Much Ado About Nothing’ or the ‘saucy doubts and fears’ of Macbeth, Shakespeare presents scenarios where central characters place their credence where they should have agnosticism and their doubts where they should act with surety. Shakespeare clearly presents Beatrice and Benedick rooted in animosity towards one another. They frequently express their certainty of this; for example when Benedick labels Beatrice as ‘Lady Disdain’, so she retaliates by†¦show more content†¦I will requite thee’. Beatrice’s emotions have experienced a drastic change since Act 1 Scene 1, where she is noted as insulting Benedick’s appearance by saying ‘Scratching could not make it worse, and ‘twere such a face as yours were’. Judging by this, it seems almost impossible to think she could feel any remotely benevolent feelings towards him, but further analysis into the play suggests the opposite. In act 1 Scene 1, Beatrice says ‘I know you of old’, which proposes the idea that there has been a history between the two, unknown to the reader. When Beatrice and Benedick finally profess their love for each other in Act 4, Shakespeare continues the sprinkling of doubts and uncertainties through his convoluted use of syntax, repetition of negative ideas and paradox. ‘I do love nothing in the world so well as you. Is that not strange?’ In Act 4 Scene 1, Beatrice and Benedick are left in private, which gives them the opportunity to reveal their feelings for one another. The addition of the question at the end of the quotation denotes that Benedick has realised the enormity of what he has just stated, so therefore questions Beatrice and labels it as strange to make it seem less significant, as he still has feelings of doubt over his new emotions. Leadership Styles Of The Road Management And Authority...

In Chapter 4, Blake and Mouton explain several different leadership styles such as: Impoverished Management, Middle-of-the-Road Management, Authority-Compliance, Country Club Management, Team Management, Paternalism/Maternalism and Opportunism. After a while of reflection, I eventually come to the notion that my primary leadership style is the Paternalism/Maternalism, or in my case Maternalism. Paternalism/Maternalism suggests the leader uses both Country-Club Management and Authority-Compliance but does not mix them. This means that they have thoughtful attention towards the needs of the people to create a comfortable and friendly atmosphere and if need be, they decide that they will be efficient in their work by disregarding the needs of the people. This leader acts kindly so that their group is able to accomplish the desired goal. These leaders are often described as motherly according to their followers, some examples are that they make most of the decisions, reward loyalty and o bedience as well as punishing non-cooperation. I believe that I fall into this category of leadership for many reasons. Although there are some parts of this leadership style that I do not follow, like, the inability to listen to others ideas and making most of the decisions.
